Can you help Hera?
Hera is in need of a foster home
Hera is 5 years old, a pure Czech import from Italy. She is neutered and does come with a medical condition. Unfortunately Hera was diagnosed with Immune Poly Arthritis over two years ago and was very poorly with the condition, since her recovery she has shown no signs of illness and is fit and well. Due to the condition, Hera can never have another vaccine in her life as this could be a trigger.
When Hera was poorly she became very nervous of people and reactive to dogs when on the lead, this was probably due to the fact she knew she was vulnerable at that time and the limited on lead exercise she needed for a long time period following the illness had a huge impact on her behaviour.
Hera is crate trained, can live with a large breed male, good on lead, can be destructive if left un-crated, she is an opportunist so will counter surf. Hera loves a game of chase in the garden and loves belly/ear rubs, most of all she loves to be with you and know you are close by.
Hera’s owner is devastated to be having to re-home her, and is putting her needs first, due to a huge change in circumstances Hera is not getting the time and human interaction she needs.
We will be looking for someone who has large breed experience, ideally with experience of a nervous dog and lives in a rural location. Hera needs time, patience, love and someone who can offer her understanding and respect.
There will be support available throughout and Dr Isla Fishburn has kindly offered to give advice on dietary needs and how to empower Hera to feel safe in her new environment to help with her emotions and nervousness.
PLEASE NOTE: Anyone applying will be asked if they have looked into the condition, Immune Poly Arthritis, and understands the implications of the condition, so please take the time to read up on it.
